Beef Stroganoff

This creamy beef stroganoff recipe is super EASY to make and your family will keep asking for more. It’s LOADED with flavor and creamy. So much better than any boxed stroganoff recipe could ever be.

Beef stroganoff is a staple in our house and we eat it at least two times a month. I can come home after a busy day at work and throw this together in less than an hour. It’s better than eating anything take-out and is definitely cheaper.

How to make Beef Stroganoff

Add water to a 6 quart stock pot and bring it to a boil. When it starts to boil add the noddles. Meanwhile in a jumbo sauté pan brown one pound ground beef. Before the ground beef is down add the onions. Once the ground beef is done drain the grease. Then add garlic, salt, pepper, and garlic powder to the pan. Add the gravy mix with the water it calls for to make the gravy. Next add the cream of mushroom soup and sour cream and mix everything together. Bring the mixture to a simmer for at least 10 minutes. Add the parsley and stir. Lastly add the noodles and mix everything together. I love to serve this with French bread.

Tips
  1. To make this meal even easier to prepare during the week brown the ground beef and freeze it. When you need it take it out a few hours before to thaw and add it to the recipe.
  2. If you do choose to use frozen ground beef you just reduced your dishes for the night because you can use the same stock pot to cook every thing in. Cook the noodles first and set aside on a plate. Then add the remaining ingredients to the stock pot.

Beef Stroganoff

Serving Size:
6
Time:
45 minutes
Difficulty:
Easy

Ingredients

  • 1/2 small onion
  • 8 ounces egg noodles
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 cloves minced garlic
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 3 tbsp brown gravy mix
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 tsp dried parsley

Directions

  1. Fill a large stock pot with water and bring to a boil. Add noodles and cook according to the package directions. Drain when finished cooking. If your noodles get done before the stroganoff add about 1 tbsp butter to them and stir so they don’t stick together.
  2. In a large skillet brown the ground beef. Make sure to break the beef apart as you cook it so you don’t have big chunks of meat. Just about 5 minutes before the beef us done add the onions and minced garlic.
  3. When the ground beef is done add the garlic powder and pepper and stir. Then add the gravel mix and water. Add sour cream and stir. Bring to a simmer and let cook about 10 to 15 minutes. If you like more of the sour cream flavor wait to add it at the very end.
  4. Add dried parsley and stir.
  5. Dump the noodles into the skillet and stir.
  6. Enjoy
