Barbecue Little Smokies

Quick and easy dinner the family will love. Also makes a great side for a party. Minimal prep which is what makes this recipe easy. Dump the ingredients in and throw it in the oven or crock pot.

Any kind of sausage can be used in this recipe. I just like using little smokies because you can just dump them in. Other sausages you have to cut up into bite size pieces requiring more work.

How to make Barbecue Little Smokies

Preheat oven to 350 degrees then place little smokies in a 2 quart glass baking dish. Pour barbecue sauce and liquid smoke on top of little smokies. Stir until little smokies are coated with barbecue sauce. Sprinkle brown sugar on top. Place in the oven for 45 minutes or in a slow cooker on low for 2 to 3 hours.

Tips

  • Other types of sausages can be used. I like Smithfield’s Smoked Sausage Rope. Also you can use more than one type of sausage. Try mixing different flavors.
  • Can adjust how much barbecue sauce is used to create a more dry or wet recipe. If you use less barbecue sauce you will need to stir it more frequently in the oven.
  • Can cook in a slow cooker. Add all ingredients to a slow cooker and cook on low for 2 to 3 hours. This is great for parties and won’t clog up space in your oven.

Ingredients

  • 2 to 3 pounds of little smokies
  • 1 1/2 cups of your favorite barbecue sauce
  • 2 tsp liquid smoke
  • 1/3 cup packed brown sugar

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees
  2. Next dump little smokies into a 2 quart glass baking dish
  3. Pour Barbecue sauce on top of little smokies
  4. Add 2 tsp liquid smoke
  5. Stir until little smokies are covered with the barbecue sauce
  6. Sprinkle brown sugar on top of little smokies
  7. Place in the oven for 45 minutes or until the barbecue mixture is boiling. Make sure the center is warm.
  8. Let cool for a few minutes.
